An Xtra Happy Birthday; September 6th

Today we bring you four Eurovision stars who are celebrating their birthday on this early autumn day. Three guys, one girl, representing countries from Iceland in the north to Cyprus in the south. And the oldest graced the Eurovision stage a full ten years before the youngest was even born. 

Sverrir Stormsker, 54

Sverrir represented Iceland at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin. Along with Stefán Hilmarsson he made up the duo Beathoven. They performed the song “Þú og þeir (Sókrates)”, finishing in 16th place. This was Iceland’s third participation, and also their third 16th place. Post Eurovision it has become one of those songs that everybody in the Euroverse know and love.

Trond Holter, 52

Trond represented Norway at the 2005 Eurovision in Kyiv, as part of WigWam. They finished 9th with their glam rock entry “In My Dreams”. WigWam also tried to represent Norway in 2004, with the song “Crazy Things“. However, that year they finished 3rd in MGP.

Annet Artani, 41

Annet Artani represented Cyprus at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens with the song “Why Angels Cry”. She finished 15th in the semifinal, thus not qualifying for the grand final.

Michele Perniola, 19

Michele Perniola represented San Marino at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. He did so alongside Anita Simoncini. They performed the song “Chain of Lights”, finishing Previously, in 2013, Michele represented San Marino at Junior Eurovision with the song “O-o-O Sole Intorno a Me
