Today, Una Healy released a brand new single, a remix of Brett Young’s mega American chart hit In Case You Didn’t Know. We’re stretching the Eurovision connection slightly here: Una was a backing singer for Ireland’s 2006 Eurovision entry, fronted by Brian Kennedy. Nevertheless, we thought it was a song worth writing about!
One of the biggest hits of the year in the US
The original version of the song, performed only by Brett, has charted inside the top 20 of the US Billboard Hot 100 and has topped the US Country airplay and Canadian country charts. Indeed, it is approaching the one million sales mark in the US! Now, Una is bringing a new flavour to the country-pop ballad which is no doubt aimed to break the track through into the British and Irish music markets.
Part of a rare Irish success story
Una’s Eurovision experience was a successful one. Joining Brian Kennedy on stage in Athens for Every Song is a Cry for Love, Ireland scored a top ten finish. In fact, only Jedward (2011) and Eamonn Toal (2000) have managed to score top ten finishes for Ireland since the turn of the millennium alongside Brian.
Following her Eurovision experience, she joined immensely popular girlband The Saturdays. During their seven years in the charts, they scored 12 UK top ten hits. These included the UK #1 What About Us featuring Sean Paul. This song also gave the band their first success outside the UK and Ireland. Following the announcement of the band’s hiatus, Una embarked on a solo career. Her album The Waiting Game has spawned two singles so far, calm country ballad Stay My Love and the pop-tastic Battlelines. Now, Una has teamed up with one of America’s hottest new country stars!
