The Australian broadcaster has just announced that Isabella Clarke will represent the country in the upcoming Junior Eurovision 2017! Her song is expected to be revealed in the following weeks.
About Isabella
Isabella Clarke, originating from Victoria, is a 13 years-old singer whose singing career started already four years ago! The singer has performed at multiple singing competitions and managed to receive multiple accolades. At the moment, she holds a coveted principal vocalist role in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular. She is a self-confessed foodie who enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Isabella cites superstars such as Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige as her biggest influences. Her biggest dream is to become an international recording artist in the future and hopes to join her idols!
When asked about the contest, Isabella said:
“I’m so honoured to be given the opportunity to represent Australia at such an amazing event. I can’t wait to start rehearsals and film the music video! I’m also looking forward to visiting Georgia for the first time and meeting all the other performers. It’s a dream come true and I hope I do my family and Australia proud.”
ABC and Blink TV working together
ABC and its production partner Blink TV selected the singer in cooperation with leading Australian record companies. Both companies, along with professional music writers, have already begun working in order to deliver the best possible song for Isabella. The song and music video are due to be released soon!
Michael Carrington, the head of ABC Children’s Television, reportedly said:
“Isabella displayed all the qualities we were looking for in this year’s Australian representative. She has an incredible voice and stage presence and we believe she’ll do exceptionally well at Junior Eurovision. We look forward to her song debut and following her journey as she embarks on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.”
In addition, Paul Clarke, the director of Blink TV, stated the following:
“Isabella will do us all proud. She has a terrific voice and we are looking forward to her performance in Tbilisi, Georgia. With 16 countries competing it’s also a wonderful opportunity to connect with other young performers and enjoy the celebration which is the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.”
Can Australia keep the success?
Australia will be making its third appearance in the contest this year. Last year, Alexa Curtis represented the country with her song “We Are” which placed 5th with a total of 202 points! On their debut year, the country got a top 10 place as well, with Bella Paige achieving an 8th place. Will Isabella manage to keep up the good results and get a third top 10 for the country?
What do you think about Australia’s entrant? Will Isabella manage to bring the first victory for the country?
