Submissions for Söngvakeppnin 2018 is open

Söngvakeppnin 2018 is going to be in February and March next year. RÚV has now opened for submissions of songs to perform. The winning price for Söngvakeppnin has been trebled, from one million ISK to three million ISK. With the hope of getting 12 strong songs to choose from. So that the one that winner will get great results at Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon in May.

Like previous years the song contest will have two semi finals. The semi finals will be at Háskólabíó on 10th and 17th of February. Each semi will have six contenders, where three of them will advance to the final. The final will held in Laugardalshöll on the 3rd of March.

Söngvakeppnin will continue to be a big event for RUV, where will people be able to see it live at the venues. There will be an announcement later for the ticket sale.

Celebrating diversity

RÚV challeges all song composers  that want to participate to continue the Icelandic song history and submit a song. As well as pointing out that Eurovision is about diversity. For this reason all genres of music is welcomed.

For those who are interested submitting or just curious about the process can look at the webpage of Söngvakeppnin. The selection is open until midnight of October the 20th.
