Today we have two birthday girls to celebrate! They are both born in the 70s. Neither performed in English. Both finished top 10 at Eurovision! And they are from neighbouring countries.
Veronica Codesal (Urban Trad), 40
Veronica represented Belgium at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest in Riga. She was part of the group Urban Trad, who perform modern folk music. They participated with their own song “Sanomi”. This song was performed entirely in an invented language. “Sanomi” finished second, a mere two points behind “Everyway That I Can”, thus making it one of the most successful Belgian entries. The Eurovision edit is only 3.01 long, while the original version of “Sanomi” is more than a minute longer.
Fanny Biascamano, 38
Fanny represented France at the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin. Back then she was only 18 years old. She performed the song “Sentiments songes”, finishing in a very respectable 7th place.
All of us here at escXtra wish Veronica and Fanny the happiest of birthdays!
