A photo has been posted onto Facebook that hints at the return of some familiar faces to the production team for Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon.
Production Team for Eurovision 2018
Ola Melzig of M & M Production Management has posted the photo, tagged himself into RTP headquarters, and asked us all to “Stand by for awesome stuff!”:
Returning to the contest
Ola Melzig is the owner of M & M Production Management and has worked on many large-scale events including The Commonwealth Games, The Nobel Prize Awards, and of course Eurovision. Since his first in 2000, he has worked on no fewer than 12 Eurovision Song Contests – not to mention his work with previous Junior Eurovision Song Contests.
Tobias Aberg is also tagged into the Facebook post. Tobias owns lighting company T-Light Design and, like Ola, has been heavily involved in previous Eurovision Song Contests. Both Ola and Tobias will form part of the executive production team for 2018 but we await further news on other executive team members.
The Eurovision stage
No other details about staging have been revealed. It’s far too early. However, in recent years we have been teased with videos and renderings of the big stage in all its glory. If there is one thing we can be sure of, it’s that we will be treated to yet another huge production from Ola and Tobias.
MEO Arena
Back in July ESCXTRA reported that Lisbon was chosen as host city for the contest in 2018. At the same time it was announced that the MEO Arena would be the venue for the main event. The MEO arena has a capacity of 20,000 people and is the largest indoor arena in Portugal. Also known as the ‘Pavilhão Atlântico’ (or ‘Atlantic Pavilion’), the purpose-built venue sits on the water’s edge and looks out across the river Tagus.
Do you think Lisbon 2018 can put on a great show? Can Ola Melzig and Tobias Aberg continue with the high standards set by previous shows? Let us know in the comments below.
