Eurovision 2020🇸🇮 Slovenia

🇸🇮 Ana Soklič releases revamp of “Voda”

A cancellation won't stop Ana!

The song will no longer take part at Eurovision, due to the cancellation of this year’s contest, but Ana Soklič has still released the revamped version of her entry, “Voda”. She was due to represent Slovenia at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest.

The song remains in Slovenian, after Ana had doubts over which language to send the song to Eurovision in. Ana’s victory in EMA last month meant that she was given the Slovenian ticket to Rotterdam, but unfortunately for her, Ana’s Eurovision experience came to a sudden stop following the contest’s cancellation on Wednesday.

Listen to the revamp!

As previously announced, Ana had been working on a new version of the song with the Budapest Art Orchestra. Yesterday, she released the new version alongside a lyric video on YouTube.

Slovenian broadcaster RTVSLO have not yet announced whether they will invite Ana to take part in the 2021 contest, or whether they will select a new artist via their national final format, EMA.

Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020

This year, the Balkan nation of Slovenia selected Ana Soklič to fly the flag for the country in Rotterdam. She was born in 1984, in Bohinj – a town in northwestern Slovenia. She was involved in music from a young age, with an interest in jazz and opera.

It isn’t the first time Ana attempted to represent Slovenia at Eurovision. In 2004 and 2007, she competed in the Slovenian selections alongside her group, Diona Dim.

With 53.54% of the televote in the superfinal of EMA 2020, Ana finally got her ticket to Eurovision this year. She beat fan favourite Liza Kuduzović’s “Man Like U”. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Eurovision 2020 was cancelled last week, and sadly, Ana will not be able to take part this year.

Do you like the revamp of “Voda”? Are you sad you won’t hear it on the Eurovision stage?
