The 2017 contest has not even taken place, yet plans for 2018 are now starting. Yes, GPB has confirmed in a video that Georgia will be in participating in Junior Eurovision in 2018!
A new national selection
GPB has confirmed that a national selection named ‘Ranina’ will take place in order to find it’s representative. Ranina will be a three-month national selection in which young artists will compete with a live orchestra and famous Georgian artists.
Therefore, interested young musicians who think that they have what it takes to represent Georgia can try their luck. Open auditions will take place on October 14th and 15th between 12:00 and 17:00 in the GPB studios.
Georgia at the Junior Eurovision
Georgia has a short history in the contest. Yet, they have proven themselves as one of the strongest contenders in the contest itself.
The country debuted in 2007 with Mariam Romelashvili and her track ‘Odelia’. She was able to achieve a respectable fourth place. In addition to participating in the contest, her participation was also featured in the documentary ‘Sounds Like Teen Spirit‘.
Since debuting in 2007, Georgia became one of the most successful countries in the contest by becoming the country with the most wins. In addition to this, it is also one of the countries who has never finished last in the contest. Mariam Mamadashvili secured Georgia their latest win with Mzeo. Therefore, Georgia was able to bring the contest back to Tbilisi.
Georgia will be represented in 2017 by Grigol Kipshidze. Indeed, his entry will be released in due course.
