No place for microstates in Eurovision?
Indeed, the microstate’s continued participation at Eurovision is considered to be under severe threat. Following the non-qualification of Valentina Monetta and Jimmie Wilson in the second semi-final in Kyiv, Carlo Romeo released a statement claiming San Marino are just “too small” for the contest. He continued to state that he believed there is “no place” for microstates in Eurovision.
Maybe San Marino can make it two final appearances?
San Marino has managed to qualify for the Eurovision final on one occasion thus far. This was achieved in 2014 when Valentina Monetta represented her nation for the third time with Maybe (Forse). She went on to finish in 25th place in Copenhagen. We hope that SMRTV choose to take part in Lisbon so they can make it two!
