Malta: MESC to take place on February 3rd, running order draw revealed

Earlier this week, TVM revealed that the 2018 Malta Eurovision Song Contest will take place on February 3rd. As has been the case for many years, the competition will select the Maltese entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. In addition, TVM conducted a draw to choose which act would open and close the competition. Aidan and Petra were chosen to open and close the show respectively!

A meeting took place at TVM

Earlier this month, TVM revealed which of the previously announced shortlisted entries had made the final 16 and therefore the live final. You can read a full list of these entries by reading our previously published article. As was the case last year, TVM conducted a special draw to choose which entry would open and close the final. Aidan will open the final with Dai Lagaย while Petra will close the show with Evolution.

Is the running order vital?

Last year, Claudia Faniello was the beneficiary of the final spot in the running order, considered an advantage due to the increased chance of staying in the voters’ minds. With televoting alone selecting the winner, this advantage arguably became even bigger. Indeed, Claudia made full use of the slot to take the victory with the beautiful ballad Breathlessly. Perhaps Petra will pull off the same achievement?
