This article contains possible wildcard spoilers which some readers may wish to avoid
Following the conclusion of Sunday’s episode of The X Factor UK, presenter Dermot O’Leary revealed details of this year’s wildcard vote. Indeed, the public would now be given the opportunity to vote for four of the acts rejected at judges houses, one from each category, to be reinstated into the competition for the live shows. However, it seems to be bad news for our Eurovision favourites.
The public has voted for their wildcard
Yes, reports from British media, including The Sun, have revealed that Eurovision’s Slavko Kalezić and Berget Lewis were not chosen to be the wildcard in the “overs” category. The duo has reportedly lost out to Talia Dean who secured the most public votes amongst the three rejected overs from Nicole Scherzinger’s judges’ houses stage. The vote closed on Monday at 1pm BST.
It’s time to face the music
The other three wildcards have been named as Alisah Bonaobra, Jack & Joel and Leon Mallett. It is expected that the chosen wildcards will be officially revealed at the beginning of tonight’s first live show. The show kicks off at 8.20pm BST this evening on ITV1. Unfortunately, all signs point towards no further Eurovision interest in this year’s competition. Of course, we wish Slavko and Berget the best of wishes for the next adventures!
Saara’s in the news
Nevertheless, last year’s The X Factor UK runner-up, Saara Aalto, recently revealed her shock decision to move record labels as well as details of an upcoming music announcement. We can’t wait for the next step in Saara’s remarkable journey!
