Selecita Nationala 2018
The semi finals of Selecita Nationala will be held during January and February 2018 all across Romania. The concept of the bigger and better selection will include six live shows – five semi finals and a grand final. The new format of Selecita Nationala is a part of a series of programs created by TVR to honor the 100th anniversary of the Great Union Day, a national holiday in Romania.
However, information regarding the host cities of this year’s edition of Selecita Nationala haven’t been disclosed by TVR yet. But there is no doubt that the Eurovision fandom is in for a Romanian treat.
Romania at Eurovision
Since the introduction of the Eurovision semi-finals in 2004, Romania appeared in every single grand final up until 2016. Last year, Romania selected Ovidiu Anton to represent the country with Moment of Silence. Nevertheless, just a few weeks before the rehearsals in Stockholm, the EBU expelled TVR due to failures to pay debt. As a result, Romania withdrew from the contest.
TVR was back with a vengeance this year. Ilinca and Alex were dominant winners in Selecţia Naţională and went on to finish in 7th in Kyiv with Yodel It!. The duo scored Romania’s fourth best result in the history of the contest. In addition, they certainly provided one of the contest’s most memorable performances in recent years!
