An Xtra Happy Birthday; November 3rd!

There was a UK birthday theme yesterday but also bit of golden theme from Israel. However today are three singers that have a birthday. The three of them represented their own country and all sang in their own language. So their songs are in English, Swedish and Spanish. Two of them have something big in common, that is, they both won the Eurovision Song Contest. In addition those two winning songs both had a nonsensical title. Lulu, Louis and Raquel have a birthday today!

Lulu, 69

United Kingdom selected Lulu to perform in 1969 to perform at Eurovision in Madrid, Spain. Her song “Boom Bang A Bang” got 19 points. Which meant that it tied in first place with three other countries! Therefore UK, Netherlands, Spain and France all won that year.

Louis Herrey, 51

Sweden selected the three Herrey brothers to compete at Eurovision in 1984. The song title is “Diggiloo Diggiley” and followed some earlier winners pattern, like Lulu’s, in that way it had a catchy nonsensical title. Weather it was that or just their charm, the song got 145 points. Thus winning the song contest. His brothers Per and Richard have a birthday in August.

Raquel del Rosario, 35

Spain picked the band “El Sueño De Morfe” to represent them in Malmö Sweden in 2013. Raquel is the lead singer of that band. Since Spain was automatically at the final, they performed 5th on stage. However she was not as fortunate as the Lulu and Louis, since the song finished second to last at the final.

We here at escXtra would like to wish the three of them a sweet happy birthday!
