One of Sweden’s more prominent media outlets – Aftonbladet reports that Samir & Viktor are back for Melodifestivalen 2018.
The duo has already taken part in the festival previously, managing to qualify for the grand final on two occasions. Seems like they hope third time’s a charm!
Demographic changes
According to Aftonbladet, SVT has already granted Samir & Viktor’s 2018 participation in the festival. In addition to winning over viewers of all ages with their effortless energy and showmanship skill, SVT’s decision to invite the due back is also strategic. The duo is an especially relevant way to go when it comes to attracting younger viewers to the festival.
Melodifestivalen 2018
Sweden’s National Broadcaster has already received 2771 entires from interested artists for the upcoming edition of Melodifestivalen.
The contest will take place over a course of six weeks next year. Kicking things off on February 3rd and ending on a high note on March 10th, 28 act will compete to get the golden ticket to Lisbon.
SVT is yet to reveal the names of the 27 acts that will be joining Stiko Per Larsson at Melodifestivalen 2018.
Samir & Viktor at Melodifestivalen
Taking part in Melodifestivalen on two previous occasions and managing to qualify for the final is a success on its own.
The duo’s first attempt to win the festival was in 2015 with their entry “Groupie“. They sailed through to the grand final by winning their duel against Behrang Miri and Victor Crone and finishing eighth overall.
In addition, history repeated itself in 2016 when Samir & Viktor manage to scrape through to the final. They were less fortunate there, only to finish last with “Bada Nakna”.
