Saara Aalto to represent Finland at Eurovision 2018!

YLE has just announced, that there is no UMK like we used to know it. Only Saara Aalto will take part in #UMK18 and will perform three songs. The public and an international jury will decide with which song she will go to Eurovision. Therefore we have another artist who is going to Eurovision in 2018! It’s Saara Aalto for Finland!

Saara Aalto has come a long way!

She already took part in UMK twice and made a huge impact in the last season of X-Factor in the UK last year, finishing in second place. Her UMK entry “No Fear” was a big hit after she tried to represent Finland with it in 2016.

National final on March 3rd

UMK18 will take place on March 3rd in the Espoo Metro Arena. Saara will perform three songs. Tickets for the show will go on sale November 14th. The competing songs and music videos will be released in spring 2018. A more detailed schedule will be announced later. Saara Aalto promises, that there will be three different songs, each with an unprecedented spectacular performance.

“I know that this trip to me will be awesome and great no matter what happens in the race. Of course, we start with the attitude that Eurovision can win – or come second! That’s where I always succeed, there’s no doubt about it” – Saara

Saara is the Finnish trump card

“We believe that a lucrative and international career was created by Saara as our trump card. We are now making all the efforts to have three unprecedented good songs and shows, best seen in May in Lisbon” says UMK producer Anssi Autio.

Before today’s news, there were already rumors, that Saara is in talks with the BBC to represent the UK in Eurovision 2018. We now can say, that Saara already made her way to Eurovision with YLE on her side.

The ESCXTRA-Team says:
Welcome home, Saara!
