Blanche has won a 2018 European Border Breakers Award. EBBA is the European music award for emerging artists, which recognises outstanding success across Europe.
EBBA praised Blanche’s Eurovision song and performance and recognised her success. “Blanche first stepped into the spotlight when she represented Belgium at the semi-final of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. It’s hard to imagine a better version of the folky song City Lights, but she did it again in the final, and it earned her fourth place. The young Belgian singer has a soothing, husky voice that recalls Lorde and London Grammar’s Hannah Reid. Blanche is signed to PIAS, and with just this one song released, which has racked-up over 20 million streams to date, it is safe to say the world is eager to see and hear more.”

Blanche joins a list of other European artists who have also received a 2018 EBBA. So far this includes Alice Merton (Germany), Skott (Sweden) and Off Bloom (Denmark). All ten winners will receive their award in a ceremony at the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in Groningen, Netherlands. TV personality and musician Jools Holland will host the ceremony. Previous recipients of the European Border Breakers Award include Eurovision artists The Common Linnets in 2015 and Helena Paparizou in 2007.
