Gerard Joling wants to make it through ‘The Border’ in new single

Gerard Joling is back! The 1988 Dutch Eurovision entrant has released a video for his latest single The Border.

From America to Joling

The Border is not an original Joling song. The song was previously released back in 1983 by rock band America. It’s Gerard’s first solo single in the English language since covering Somewhere Over The Rainbow in 2005. This time, he’s worked together with John Birne to bring the America song to 2017.
Full with a disco beat, characteristic high notes and a video with ice skaters, Gerard is hoping to make an impression on the Dutch charts. His last top ten entry in there was Echte Vrienden. That single was a release from Gerard and Eurovision commentator Jan Smit.

A second Eurovision dream

Gerard Joling has been dreaming about a possible second Eurovision adventure for himself. Last month, he confirmed that he was planning to submit an entry to Avrotros, but eventually was too late as they had selected Waylon internally.
