Yesterday we celebrated two Eurovision birthday girls! Today we bring you another three Eurostars to help us celebrate; one is even a former winner! One of the others is a two time participant! He managed to finish top 5 in his first attempt, only to end up dead last the second time he tried his luck. We give you Thomas Forstner!
Kimberley Rew, 66
Kimberley Rew represented the United Kingdom at the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin. He did so as part of the band Katrina and the Waves. They performed the song “Love Shine a Light”, winning the contest for the UK. This was the fifth victory for the UK, and their last up until today. Kimberley was also the songwriter of their winning entry.
Thomas Forstner, 48
Thomas Forstner has represented Austria at Eurovision twice. The first time was back in 1989 in Lausanne, when he performed “Nur ein Lied”, finishing in 5th place. He returned to the contest two years later, in Rome in 1991. Austria was hoping for another top result for Thomas. This, however, was not meant to be, as he didn’t receive a single point for “Venedig im Regen“.
Hind, 33
Hind represented the Netherlands at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade. She did this with the song “Your Heart Belongs to Me”. Many fans, both Dutch and from other countries, thought this might be the Netherlands’ year. This was quite far off the mark, however, as she failed to qualify for the final. She only finished in 13th place.
All of us here at escXtra wish Hind, Thomas and Kimberley the very best of birthdays!
