Jamala is expecting her first child

Jamala has announced on social media that she is expecting her first child with her husband Bekir.

She originally wanted to keep her pregnancy a secret, however, rumours started to come to light about her pregnancy and decided to set things straight.
In her Instagram post, she has mentioned:

“Of course, I would like to keep it secret and share the news only with the closest, but many have already guessed it. This is the greatest miracle in the world!”

Jamala at the Eurovision Song Contest

Before winning the trophy back in 2016, Jamala competed to represent Ukraine in 2011 with her song “Smile“. However, due to the controversies surrounding the national final, she withdrew from the national final.
5 years later, she once again competed in the Ukrainian national final with her song “1944” and won the right to represent Ukraine in Stockholm. Despite the controversies around her song, she managed to win the contest with 534 points.
