We reported a few weeks ago how ALEKSEEV was planning to participate in the Ukrainian selection. However, he has now withdrawn his entry from Vidbir 2018 and is now aiming to represent Belarus instead.
Who is ALEKSEEV?
ALEKSEEV, or Nikita Vladimirovich Alekseev was born on 18 May 1993 in Kyiv. In 2014, he took part in Ukraine’s version of The Voice, Holos Kraini, where he made it to the semi-final. His coach was Ukraine’s 2008 entrant Ani Lorak. In the same year, ALEKSEEV released his debut single, “Vse uspet” (in English translated as “Everything on Time”). His big breakthrough happened a year later, when he released a single named “Pyanoe solntse” (Drunken Sun). Alan Badoev, a well known director, directed the video for that single.
He is one of the biggest names in the region at the moment and many consider him an early favourite already. In a post on his Facebook page, he stated:
“There was not a single interview in which I would not be asked why I don’t go to the Eurovision. I always joked about this topic, but now our team felt the strength to compete for the victory in this competition. We are used to setting new goals and overcoming them each time”
However, despite his Ukrainian hopes, the 24 year old now shifts his hopes to Belarus. Will they let him in?
BTRC, the Belorussian national broadcaster, are yet to confirm when their national final will take place. However, expectations are the contest will take place in March. BRTC have announced that a jury and televote will decide the winner. Auditions are set to be held on 11 January and will be broadcast live on BTRC’s website.
Alongside ALEKSEEV, other artists aiming to Belarus include; Angelika Pushnova, KATTIE & LOVISA, Kirill Good, PROvokatsiya and Janet. There weren’t that many entries, as we reported last week.
