The Scoop

Yulia Samoylova’s flame is still burning with new video

There is a new video for Flame Is Burning! It seems Yulia Samoylova is not yet done with the song she was supposed to go Kyiv with. In her new video, we see Yulia in a setting fitting for the Christmas celebrations.

Yulia Samoylova’s flame at Christmas

During a special Christmas show on Russia’s Channel One, Yulia Samoylova once again appeared with her song. In the video, we see a snowy setting, with Yulia wearing red. The performance takes place on top of a roof.

It had been a while since we heard from her. After all incidents which happened in 2017, it became rather silent around the Russian singer.

Is there light after the night?

In 2017, Russia selected Yulia Samoylova as their destined entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv. After it appeared that Yulia had broken Ukrainian law by entering Crimea through Russia, Ukrainian authorities were clear. Yulia Samoylova would be banned from entering Ukraine and was not welcome in Kyiv.

EBU tried to solve the situation, but eventually had to give up. On 13th April, Russian authorities decided that neither of the options available were viable to them. The result was a Russian withdrawal from the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. At that same moment, Russia’s broadcaster confirmed that Yulia would get the chance to represent her nation at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.

That confirmation has, almost a year later, almost vanished into oblivion. Neither one of Russia’s broadcasters have confirmed Samoilova for Lisbon, nor did they confirm anyone else. It seems like the question for Yulia Samoylova is clear: Will she get the chance to represent her country?

So, what do you think of Yulia Samoylova’s new video? Do you think she will eventually get the chance to represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon? Let us know below or in a comment on Facebook or Twitter!
