Have the six acts for UK’s Eurovision You Decide 2018 been leaked?

A member of the DigitalSpy.co.uk forum has posted details from what they claim is a reliable source indicating the six entries for the United Kingdom’s Eurovision You Decide 2018 national final. Could these be the UK candidates for Lisbon?
These are the six rumoured entries:

  • Max Murphy – Legends
  • Kelsey-Beth Crossley – Home
  • Joe Astley – Rivers
  • Judyshouse – Want you back
  • Anna Pancaldi – Inferno
  • Lucie Barat – Swimming

A songwriting camp was held featuring songwriters such as Greta Salóme (Iceland), Lisa Cabble and Julia Jakobsen (the songwriters of Only Teardrops), and Molly Petterson Hammar (Melodifestivalen 2015 & 2016 participant and songwriter of the 2016 Maltese Eurovision entry). Liam Payne, ex-One Direction, is rumoured as the interval act on the show.

Max Murphy with ‘Legends’ has been rumoured as a contender to win, with the suggestion that the BBC have been keen to have this ‘tropical bop’ as the UK entry in Lisbon. Twitter user Lisa Bird sums up the other acts well in this tweet.

Eurovision: You Decide at The Brighton Dome

BBC’s Eurovision: You Decide 2018 will be held at the Brighton Dome. Eurovision 2015 winner Måns Zelmerlöw will host alongside Mel Giedroyc. The 90-minute show will feature performances of six songs, with the winner chosen by a combination of public and professional jury votes.
Last year, Lucie Jones won ‘Eurovision: You Decide’ and represented the UK in Kyiv. She came 15th place with ‘I Will Never Give Up On You’, written by 2013 winner Emmelie de Forest.

Will the minimum age for the UK’s national selection still remain 16? I hope so!

After going through some of their past work just now, I doubt this person’s source is at all accurate. Max’s voice and stage presence on the voice does not blend right with a ‘tropical bop’, Lucie Barat just released a video to a different song on YouTube a month ago, which depicts spewing down alleys, heavy drinking and possibly smoking pot – something I don’t see the BBC pushing to represent on a world stage. At this point, I don’t think I need to dissect the remaining four ‘rumoured’ entries.
