After Saturday’s semifinal, Erica Jennings has withdrawn from Lithuania’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, Eurovizijos Atranka. Her reasons why? To her, the jury is a joke.
What does Erica have to say?
Erica says that whilst she has a great song and would love to go to Eurovision, she has decided to withdraw because she doesn’t want to “jump through all those hoops again”. She reasons that she is an established singer, so the idea of being judged, like a “school girl”, by a jury which Erica feels more experienced than, is “simply cringeworthy”.
She criticises the jury members (who she describes as “so-called ‘experts'”) for praising themselves on social media after the show. Erica is amazed at how bold the juries are when none of them have written a song, written a hit, or been anywhere near performing at Eurovision.
Erica suggests that the Lithuanian broadcaster make some changes to the process in future.

Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018
Lithuania is using Eurovizijos Atranka to select their entry for the this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal. The Lithuanian broadcaster, LRT, have not yet revealed the full list of participants, although last year there was a total of 49 competing artists!
Last year, in Kyiv, Ukraine, Fusedmarc represented Lithuania with Rain of Revolution. They failed to qualify, coming second to last with 42 points, beating only San Marino with 1 point.
