πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬ Johnny Manuel advances to The Voice AU semi finals

Johnny Manuel, who is a former member of Equinox, the representatives for Bulgaria in Eurovision 2018, has advanced to the penultimate stage of the Australian talent show, The Voice.

As reported a month ago, Johnny Manuel has been taking part in this year’s edition of The Voice Australia. In previous rounds he had sung Diana Ross’ “Home”, Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” and Alphaville’s “Forever Young” to make it through auditions, the battle rounds and the playoffs respectively.

The show is entering its final phase this week, which includes showdowns, a semi final and a grand final. This was a surprise announcement, condensing the business end of the show into one week. Out of the 20 artists left at this stage, five assigned to each coach, two per coach progress past the showdowns. Johnny performed in the showdown rounds last night singing one of coach Guy Sebastian’s own songs, “Before I Go”. This first part of the showdown covered Guy’s acts and those of judge Kelly Rowland, with the other half of the acts performing tonight (Monday). Johnny was the last singer to perform on the night. Guy Sebastian, is, of course, also a Eurovision veteran, taking part in the 2015 contest for Australia.

Impressing the coaches with this emotional performance, Johnny was one of the judges’ top picks, allowing him to perform again in the semi-final on Tuesday night.

Johnny and Equinox

Johnny first came to fame by taking part in America’s Got Talent in 2017, where he reached the semi-finals on that occasion also. He was one of two American singers in Equinox.

One year later he was one of five singers selected to perform as part of Equinox. Equinox competed for Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, and came 14th with 166 points.
