Song writing camps are a trend of the past few years. Germany have now announced to hold a songwriting camp in Berlin for their national final. The composers are hoping to take part in Unser Lied für Lissabon.
From the Netherlands to Canada
Fourteen composers or ensembles have been selected to take part. Those composers are from all over the world. Of course, there are German composers, but they have also invited people from Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark and so on. The composers have gathered in Berlin for NDR’s songwriting camp, with all national final acts taking part.
Among the participants, there are a couple of Eurovision winners as well. Danish composer Thomas Stengaard was one of the people behind Emmelie de Forest’s victory in 2013. Another attending composer is Ali Zuckowski, one of the people behind the success of “Rise Like A Phoenix” in 2014.
The mix of young and older talent is remarkable. There are older composers, such as Martin Gallop, but also young talents. One of those is nineteen year old Loren Nine Geerts, who is from The Netherlands and has a varied style of singer-songwriter music, dance, pop and rock.
Below you can find a list of all composers taking part:
- Billy Austin (United States)
- Richardo “Richy” Bettiol (Switzerland)
- Axel Ehnström (Finland, previously known as Paradise Oskar)
- Martin Gallop (Germany)
- Loren Nine Geerts (The Netherlands)
- Nisse Ingwersen (Germany)
- Nina Müller (Germany)
- Jaro Omar (Germany)
- Quarterhead (Germany)
- Thomas Stengaard (Denmark)
- Joe Walter (Germany)
- Ali Zuckowski (Germany)
Six acts in Unser Lied für Lissabon
NDR selected six acts for Unser Lied für Lissabon. Ivy Quainoo, Ryk, Michael Schulte, Xavier Darcy, Natia Todua and Voxxclub will fight for the chance to finally take Germany out of the bottom three again.
Contrary to last year, each act will have the option to sing a song of their preference. They have the option to work with a song written by one of the composers listed above or bring in a song themselves. In last year’s national final, NDR selected two songs, “Wildfire” and “Perfect Life” for the five artists taking part.
Unser Lied für Lissabon will take place on February 22nd in Berlin. The six acts are hoping to be Levina’s successor as Germany’s Eurovision representative. She finished in 25th in Kyiv, following a string of bad results for Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest.
