After last night’s three show bonanza, tonight is a more quiet night. There’s only one show where we’ll be hearing potential Eurovision entrants: In Romania. They’ll have the first show of their mammoth national final, Selecția Națională. Seems like we’re in for a treat!
Selecţia naţională – Semi 1
A total of five semifinals is going to take place in Romania. The Romanian broadcaster has selected sixty entries to compete. That is more than any other country this year, so the Romanian have decided to split them into five shows plus a final. This first one is going to take place in the east of Romania, in Focșani.
For tonight, only eleven acts will take the stage. That is because Tom Hartis has sadly withdrawn from the competition due to health issues. His song “Teardrop Rain” has therefore been removed from the competition.
These eleven acts will take part, in alphabetical order:
- Alex Florea – Nobody Told Me It Would Hurt
- Alexia & Matei – Walking On Water
- CornEL – Take Me Away
- Echoes – Mirror
- Eduard Santha – Me Som Romales
- Elena Turcu – The Perfect Fall
- Hellen – From Underneath
- Johnny Bădulescu – Devoted
- Lina – A Love Worth Falling For
- Liviu Anghel – Rise Up
- Waleska – Renacer
Tonight’s proceedings
Tonight’s show of Selecția Națională will be hosted by Diana Dimitrescu and Cezar Oatu. Cezar famously represented his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with “It’s My Life”.
Only three acts can make it through tonight. A jury will be used to select the three entries by ranking them. One of the jury members is last year’s yodeling star, Ilinca.
The show will be aired on TVR1. The show itself will start at 20:10 CET, but there’s a short preview show at first. That preview will kick off at 20:00 CET. The eleven song show will be opened by Luminita Anghel, who will perform “Hora Din Moldova”.
Finally, you can see the timetable for tonight’s proceeding in our ESCXTRA.com Schedule below! Of course, ESCXTRA.com will be keeping you up to date by tweeting about tonight’s show, as well as having a stream from one of our editors at home.
