According to The Irish Sun bosses at the Irish broadcaster RTE want to send the duo Heathers to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2018. Heathers is made up of twin sisters Louise and Ellie MacNamara.
Louise and Ellie are currently working in different countries this year and collaborating on an upcoming album. Louise is a lecturer at the BIMM Institute in Dublin, while Ellie is based in New York. They’ve however yet to say yes to the opportunity. When asked by The Irish Sun if they would consider Eurovision, Louise told them: “Maybe. I’m not going to say yes or no. Possibly — but for me we’re focusing on a new record.”
Heathers have had a successful career since 2008: their first single ‘Remember When’ was a Number 1 in Ireland, then ran for three years as the soundtrack to a major Irish Tourist Board advertising campaign. They later went on to sign worldwide music deals, releasing a second album ‘Kingdom’ and having songs featured on TV shows in the US and UK.
“I don’t think it’s something to throw away or to not consider.”
It seems the duo wouldn’t be put off performing at Eurovision. In further comments to The Irish Sun, Louise added: “I think the competition has changed over the last couple of years… There are a lot more credible acts going for Eurovision now. I don’t think it’s something to throw away or to not consider.”
Their last release was ‘Midnight Train’ in August 2017.
