LTV has announced earlier today who will compete in the first semi-final of Latvia’s selection, Supernova 2018. Seven out of 21 artists will fight for two spots in the final.
And the seven first are…
- Katrina Gupalo & the Black Birds — “Intoxicating Caramel”
- Rahu The Fool — “Oh Longriver”
- DVINES — “More Than Meets the Eye”
- Agnese Stengrevics — “You Are My World”
- Sudden Lights — “Just Fine”
- Edgar Kreilis — “Younger Days”
- Liene Greifane — “Walk the Talk”
This is the actual running order, according to LTV.
LTV will broadcast this first semi-final on February 3rd, the first Super Saturday of the 2018 season (with 6 other shows, including the final for Malta and Poland). Two entries will qualify to the final. With three semi-finals to be held, it means the final, on February 24th, will have 6 contestants.
Looking for a host?
Earlier today, also, LTV started a campaign on social media to find the hosts of Supernova 2018. On Supernova 2018’s official Facebook page, people can tag any person they think could be a good presenter for the national selection.

Supernova started in 2015, replacing the former national selection Dziesma. The new format became an immediate success, with the 2015’s winner Aminata finishing 6th in Vienna. The next year, Justs Sirmais and his song “Heartbeat” (written and composed by Aminata) finished 15th, but 2017’s winner Triana Park finished last of its semi-final…
