From one Eurovision birthday yesterday to a total of five today! The oldest was born in the early years of WWII, while the youngest was born in the late 80s. They have achieved very varied results at Eurovision, with one of them not even making it to the final. Another was much more successful, however. We give you three time Eurovision participant, one time winner; Hanne Krogh!
Bjørn Tidmand, 78
Bjørn Tidmand represented Denmark at the 1964 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. He performed the song “Sangen om dig”, and finished ninth out of 16 participating countries. This was not, however, his first attempt at representing his country in Eurovision. The year before, he finished second in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, behind Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann and their “Dansevise”.
Hanne Krogh, 62
Hanne Krogh represented Norway in Eurovision three times; in 1971, 1985 and 1991. In 1971, at the age of just 15, she performed the song “Lykken er“. She finished second to last, only ahead of Malta. 14 years later, she won Eurovision Song Contest in Gothenburg, with the fun 50s inspired “La det swinge”. This time she participated as part of the duo Bobbysocks, alongside Elisabeth Andreassen. Hanne’s last (at least until now) Eurovision participation was in Rome in 1991. She was part of the group Just4Fun, performing “Mrs. Thompson“. They finished 17th out of 22 participants.

Suzy, 38
Suzy represented Portugal at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. She did so with the fun dancey track “Quero ser tua”. Both Suzy and her song became huge fan favorites in the weeks leading up to the contest. She did however only finish in 11th place in her semi-final, thus just failing to qualify for the grand final.
Teo, 35
Teo represented Belarus at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. He performed the song “Cheesecake”. In his semi he finished top 10, thus qualifying for the grand final. In Saturday’s final he finished 16th. This was not, however, his first attempt at reaching the Eurovision stage. Already in 2009 he took part in the national final in a duet with Anna Blagova. He is also one of the songwriters behind “Solayoh”, Alyona Lanskaya’s 2013 entry.
Jade Ewen, 30
Jade represented the United Kingdom at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. She performed the song “It’s My Time”, which was written by the one and only Andrew Lloyd Webber. He even took to the Eurovision stage himself, playing the piano. Jade finished fifth, which still is the best result the UK has had since 2002.
All of us here at escXtra with all of today’s Eurovision birthday girls and boys the very best of birthday!
