Laura Groeseneken going for victory with a ‘mysterious’ song

Laura Groeseneken from Belgium was the first artist to be announced for Eurovision 2018. She has revealed more details about her entry in an interview with EurovisionBelgium’s partner OGAE Belgium.
Laura in the last three months has participated in at least 20 writing sessions, alongside the Belgium team also looking for potential entries for Eurovision. In the end Laura chose a song written and composed by herself – she wanted a song that was ‘her’ and would fall in love with immediately.

“It will be a pop song, but not a typical one. Not even for the Eurovision Song Contest. It is a bit mysterious.”

Laura has also chosen a special outfit for her Eurovision performance, though will not reveal details at this time other than it is from a well-known designer.

The bar is high for Belgium

For Laura, participation in the Eurovision Song Contest wasn’t something she originally thought of but says she is adventurous and wanted to take on the challenge. “This is a unique opportunity, you can only experience this once in your life”. Blanche, Laura Tesoro and Loïc Nottet have all achieved high placings, setting the bar high for any artist representing Belgium. “But the bar must be high, that gives an extra push to go for it” Laura explains,  “That gives an extra push for me. I will go to the Eurovision Song Contest to win.”
