In a show where Mahmood & Blanco and Elisa are the frontrunners, I’m delighted we’ve gone for this quirky little entry. “Ciao Ciao” is the earworm of the century – for real. I love other songs even more than this, but when trying to hum or sing along to them, all that pops into my head is this one by La Rappresentante di Lista. It’s a fantastic entry by a fantastic group. This would go down a treat in Turin for Eurovision… but I doubt we’ll ever see it there.

“Ciao ciao” has been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it on the first night of Sanremo. It’s such a fun song and it keeps getting better after every listen. Of course at Eurovision, you need to make an impact on the first listen but I am sure that with the (mainly) Italian audience, this would be so full of energy in Turin and therefore will be very memorable for the television audience too.

This is so addictive. Quirky and catchy, this song has stayed in my head and I want to play it over and again. It’s very accessible too as ‘Ciao ciao’ is an easy hook for anyone outside Italy. You don’t have to be invested so much in the meaning of the Italian lyrics. For Eurovision this song could be a lot of fun and really bring a party feeling for the host country. There’s a good chance this will miss out though – in the context of Sanremo it’s got tough competition.

In any other selection, I would have no doubt that “Ciao ciao” would sweep up the trophy – however La Rappresentante di Lista are faced with winning Sanremo. This, in my opinion, is clearly the best song of the selection season so far out of all the national selections. It feels fresh, fun and I think I would really connect with a Eurovision audience. Like the rest of the team though, I do worry that it’s going to be snubbed by the Italian voters and it won’t even get as far as Turin. Looking at the song though, it’s got a great hook and it’s performed with so much confidence. I enjoyed “Amare” last year, but this is another step up. Come on Italy, you know what you have to do.
