The sixteen artists that competed at Spain’s extremely popular music show, Operación Triunfo, reunited on stage at the OT Fiesta. In addition to that, we got to see Spain’s 2018 Eurovision representatives, Alfred and Amaia perform their entry “Tu canción”.
No more piano
They ditched the pianos and went for a more minimalist approach when it came down to staging their song, however their beautiful harmonies and chemistry remain a part of their performance.

Amaia wins Operación Triunfo
In addition to meeting Alfred and winning the golden ticket to Lisbon, Amaia managed to win over the hearts of the Spanish viewers and came out triumphant at the final gala of Operación Triunfo 2017, even though the final took place in 2018…
Proving that if you work hard you can have it all, Amaia won the super final with a staggering 46% of the total vote. On the night, she gave a flawless interpretation of both MClan’s “Miedo” and Bowie’s “Starman”.
OT and Eurovision
The first season of Spain’s OT kicked off in 2001 and was a massive hit among viewers. The format of the show was applied when determining their Eurovision representative back in 2002. The talented Rosa Lopez swooped Europe off their feet with her cheeky “Europe’s Living a Celebration” finishing 7th with 81 points overall.
The Spanish National Broadcaster, RTVE, used the same method of selecting their representative in the following two years with Beth and Ramon.
After the third season of the show, the format was not applied when it came down to finding Spain’s representative. However, both Soraya and Edurne came to fame on the fourth season of the show and went on to represent the country at Eurovision.
What do you think of Alfred and Amaia’s “Tu canción”? Could their song change Spain’s fortune at the contest? Do you like their performance at the OT Fiesta?
