Today, the second on stage rehearsals for all the acts of the third semi of Melodifestivalen 2018 took place in the Malmö Arena. Every artist had 25 minutes to improve before the dress rehearsal happening with a big audience tonight. You can always check live updates on our Twitter and Instagram.
A Bitter Lullaby performed by Martin Almgren
His song is very powerful and is a great opener for the show. It’s already the first goosebump moment of the show. The camera is on point already. Will get the audience in the right mood. Love this. Very uplifting. At least AC. Might get a final spot.
Stark performed by Barbi Escobar
Barbi is amazing on stage. This is the next strong song in the semi-final. I love the dancing. Don’t know if she can get all the energy to the viewers at home. There is a lot happening on stage. Both visual/light and action with her and the dancers. Could have a hard time especially as No. 2. But we got surprised already this season.
Cube Libre performed by Moncho
This is like the typical feel-good summer song. It’s easy to sing with it and the performance is full of colors and dancing. This will heat up the audience. This might be too simple to get enough votes. But in this semi-final, everything can happen. The song is so much fun to watch on screen. It’s really THE party song.
Party Voice performed by Jessica Andersson
You really feel that Jessica has a lot of experience. She is performing as if the stage would be her home. “Party Voice” is a song which could’ve been part of Melfest in previous years, but it has many modern influences. Together with the performance, this is very up-to-date and a strong contender for the final.
Min dröm performed by Kalle Moraeus & Orsa Spelmän
This is the Swedish kinda song you would expect from them. It’s not as catchy as “Underbart” and might have a hard time in this semi. It is still something for the audience and I think they will love it. So it is hard to predict the outcome of this song. In the end, nobody can dislike Kalle and Orsa 😀
Cry performed by Dotter
She might stand out the most in this strong semi-final. Her song is very different. The camera work is very on point and creative. Even more creative than “Statements”. Everything is very dark on stage. You can barely see her. For the last chorus, it gets bright. Her vocals are on point and she is very professional on stage. Even though the song is not building up towards the end, it is still interesting for the viewers, because of her performance.
Everyday performed by Mendez
If you think a well known Spanish influenced song was catchy, you clearly haven’t heard “Everyday”. Even though his vocals are not so strong in the verses, the chorus is extremely good and he is selling the song very well. In the postcard, he says “I’m a happy guy” and he can totally transfer this feeling to the stage with the song. The weak vocals could be the problem in the end when the race will be as close as expected.
