An Xtra Happy Birthday; February 16th!

Yesterday on 15th of February, five Eurovision artist celebrated their birthday. Today is a men theme, that is four Eurovision male performers were born on this day. Their entries where performed in 1978, 1979, 2007 and 2015. The songs are all quite different that is; slow ballad, folk, rock ballad and Drag pop! Jean Baudlot, Joël Prévost, DQ and Markus Christ have a birthday today.

Jean Baudlot (Laurent Vaguener), 71

In 1979 Monaco picked the French singer Jean to perform at Eurovision in Jerusalem. Then he called himself Laurent Vaguener. Therefore sang his song “Notre vie c’est la musique” on the stage. The song received in total 12 points, which scored him the 13th place out of 19 acts.

Joël Prévost, 68

France chose Joël to represent it at Eurovision in their own capital, Paris, in 1978. Therefore he song the song “Il  y aura toujours des violons” on the stage. Despite the song not being that current the slow ballad, took the 3rd place at the contest.

DQ (Peter Andersen),  45

Denmark’s entry in 2007 was really pink, because the DQ the Drag Queen was their selection. The song, “Drama Queen”, made it to the national final as a wildcard but stole the show got to go to Helsinki. Unfortunately for DQ the song did not advance to the final.

Markus Christ, 27

Austria selected the band The Makemakes in 2015 to represent them at Eurovision. Like Joël Prévost the band got to perform in their own country. Markus is the bass player of the band. Since Conchita Wurst won the contest the previous year, the bad automatically went to the final. They however did not attract as many points. The song got points and therefore joined the last place with Germany.
