Lisbon 2018

“Golddigger”, “Í stormi” and “Hér með þér” last three Söngvakeppnin qualifiers

Tonight we saw the second semi-final of Söngvakeppnin 2018, and tonight’s direct qualifiers were “Golddigger”, “Í stormi” and “Hér með þér”!

Tonight’s Show

Like last week, we saw a fair bit of glitter, somewhat over the top outfits, cool dance moves and everything else that goes with a Söngvakeppnin semi-final. We heard quite a few huge notes, along with a few bum notes. Aron Hannes even had to perform his song, Golddigger, again due to technical difficulties during his first performance which made the backing singers completely inaudible on TV.
Tonight’s interval act was Magni Ásgeirsson and Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir (Silvia Night) performing a gorgeous Icelandic version of Calm After the Storm, the Dutch entry into Eurovision 2014. We were in the audience during the show and caught this clip of it!

The Six Finalists

The Söngvakeppnin rules state that RÚV has the option of handing out a wildcard to one of the six semi-finalists that didn’t get enough televotes to proceed directly to the final.
This year they decided not to do this, and we are left with a six song final in Laugardalshöll on 3 March.
The final of Söngvakeppnin 2018 will consist of the following six songs;
“Kúst og fæjó” – Heimilistónar
“Aldrei gefast upp/Battleline ” – Fókus
“Heim/Our Choice ” – Ari Ólafsson
“Golddigger/Gold digger” – Aron Hannes
“Í stormi/Saviour” – Dagur Sigurðsson
“Hér með Þér/Here For You” – Áttan
