Yesterday evening we saw Vanja Radovanovic triumph Montenegro’s National selection, Montevizija. However the results of the competition were not available for the fans to see. Until today that is.
Interestingly enough, we learned right on the spot last night that the Montenegrin National Broadcaster, RTCG, has decided to switch things up an introduce not one but two rounds of televote. With that being said, analysing the official results of the competition, we can notice that Vanja and his entry “Inje” did not win the public in the first round.
However, we can include multiple factors as to why things turned for the better for Vanja without alluding to any irregularities.
Montevizija 2018 results
In order to keep things transparent, RTCG decided to share the numbers of the votes received yesterday. And we were in for quite the surprise.
As you can see from the graphics below, Vanja was the third favorite act according the the Montenegrin public. He managed to win 18% of the total vote in the first round, leaving both Nina and Ivana behind. Lorena took a massive victory in round one, with 40% of the vote, over double the amount runner-up Katarina got.
However, Vanja’s fortune took a turn for the better in the second round of voting. He performed his entry “Inje” first and managed to improve on his previous result by quite a margin in the super final. He ended up with 37% of the vote. Katarina then received 34%. Surprisingly, the overwhelming first round winner scored just 29% of the vote, making Lorena third.
RTCG also revealed that they have received 10.006 SMS votes from viewers at home. As promised, part of the proceeds will go to charity.
What do you think of Montenegro’s entry “Inje”? Does it have the potential to take Montenegro back to the final of the contest? Is it among your favorite Montenegrin entries at Eurovision so far?
