Wildcard act revealed for the final of Latvia’s Supernova 2018

One eliminated artist got a wildcard for the final of Latvia’s Eurovision selection Supernova. The winner of the televote on the first semifinal, Sudden Lights, got the wildcard and will compete in the final on this Saturday.

Eight songs in the final

This means that eight songs will compete in the final. Two artists from each of the three semifinals qualified straight to the final. Due a technical glitch on the online voting platform, Markus Riva was also brought back to the final.

The history of Supernova

Latvia introduced their new Eurovision national selection format in 2015. Aminata won the final with “Love Injected”. She represented the country in Vienna and finished sixth.
Next year Aminata returned to Supernova as a songwriter, as she wrote the song “Heartbeat” for Justs. Justs won the contest and went on to represent the country in Stockholm. Latvia qualified to the final for a second year in a row and placed there 15th.
Last year Triana Park won Supernova with “Line”. Latvia failed to qualify to the final in Kyiv after finishing last on the first semifinal.

Sami Luukela

I started watching Eurovision back in 2006, when I was only 10 and couldn't stay up to see Lordi winning. I attended my first contest in 2013 in Malmö. I'm studying journalism and I love music — you will probably never see me without my headphones on.
