The first semi-final of Eurovizijos 2018 has come to an end and we have our first three finalists. Tonight seven acts were competing for three places at the Grand Final of the selection, to take place on March 11th. The power was divided equally by the juries and the televote, therefore using a 50/50 system. Let’s check who qualified!
The results of the first semi-final (the finalists in green)
- Gabrielius Vagelis – “The Distant”
- GeraiGerai & Silvija Pankūnaitė – “More Than Tou Know”
- Kotryna Juodzevičiūtė – “That Girl”
- The Roop – “Yes I Do”
- Godo – “Fire Fountain”
- Greta Zazza – Broken Shadows”
- Jurgis Bruzga – “4Love”
The juries and the televote had different winners
Jurgis Bruzga won the semi-final with 12 points from the juries and 10 points from the televote. The maximum score from the public at home went to The Roop and the song “Yes I do”.
According to the votes of the public, Greta Zazza would qualify instead of Kotryna Juodzevičiūtė, while the juries would have rather seen Godo at the grand final instead of The Roop.
Lithuania’s journey at Eurovision
The first Lithuanian entry at Eurovision goes back to 1994, when Ovidijus Vyšniauskas finished last, receiving the famous nul points. With 18 appearances at the contest, the best result of the baltic country remains to be the 6th place achieved by LT United in 2006.
Last year the group Fusedmarc won the national final and therefore the right to represent Lithuania with their song “Rain of Revolution”. Despite the enthusiastic performance, the group placed 17th in the second semifinal, achieving the second worst result for Lithuania since the introduction of the semifinals.
Can Lithuania get their first top 5 result this year?
