After all the eight acts performed their entries, a panel of music professionals and the Slovenian public have decided that Lea Sirk will be their next Eurovision representative.

- BQL – Promise

Both the jury and the public were able to award 225 points overall and determine the winner. The hosts explained during the show that in case of a tie, the public vote will overrule the jury vote and determine the winner.
The Results
Music professionals decided that their winner for the night is Lea Sirk with her energetic entry “Hvala, Ne”.
Interestingly enough, the vote came from OGAE Slovenia, local musicians and previous Eurovision contestants. Among the international jurors we had Kristian Kostov, Bojana Stamenov, Aminata, Emmelie de Forest and Dami Im.
The public vote on the other hand, went to the fan favorites BQL with their entry “Promise”. However, they still did not manage to catch up to Lea Sirk and ended up in second place overall.
Mixed fortunes for Slovenia at Eurovision
Unfortunately, Omar was unable to qualify for the 2017 Eurovision grand final with his ballad On My Way. Slovenia’s Eurovision record since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004 has been unimpressive. Indeed, Slovenia has only qualified for the final on four occasions since 2004. Those qualifications came courtesy of Alenka Gotar, Maja Keuc, Tinkara Kovač and Maraaya. Slovenia’s best result remains the 7th places achieved by Darja Švajger and Nuša Derenda in 1995 and 2001 respectively.
Could their luck take a turn for the better with Lea Sirk and her entry “Hvala, Ne!”?
