It’s been just over a month since Switzerland selected Zibbz, Montenegro selected Vanja Radovanović and Denmark selected Rasmussen to represent their nations in Portugal this May. Now, we are delighted to confirm that all three of these acts will perform upon the Café de Paris stage on Thursday 5th April.
A landslide result in Switzerland for Zibbz
Zibbz were selected in the Swiss selection show “Die Entscheidungsshow”, defeating five other acts in the process. Their entry “Stones” was selected as the favourite by both the International Juries and the Swiss televoting public.
The duo, consisting of brother and sister pair Corinne and Stefan Gfeller, are from Zürich and named themselves Zibbz by modifying the English word “siblings”.
Since 2011, they have been based in Los Angeles and have gained success in Switzerland with their first two albums Ready? Go! released in 2013 and It Takes a Village released in 2017.
A superfinal in Montenegro selected Vanje Radovanović
Montenegro returned to selecting their Eurovision entry via a televised national final for the first time since 2008. Montevizija had 5 competing entries and a 3-way superfinal to decide which song would represent them in Lisbon. Vanje Radovanović was the winner with his song “Inje” which translates into English as “Frost”.
Rasmussen’s “Higher Ground” won Denmark’s superfinal
Denmark used their familiar Dansk Melodi Grand Prix process to select Rasmussen to represent them at Eurovision this year. Ten songs competed before they were whittled down to three for the superfinal.
From there, “Higher Ground” won the selection process with its strong Viking imagery and sound somewhat reminiscent of a typically Scandinavian seafaring song!
