Yesterday on March the 18th, several Eurovision artist celebrated their birthday. However, today are three Eurovision singers that have a birthday. The oldest one of the participated two times at Eurovision. She shocked Europe with a long kiss at the end of her performance. One of the was the depute act of their country! Birthe Wilke, Ovidijus and Christine Guldbrandsen were born on this day.
Birthe Wilke, 82
Denmark selected the duo Birthe and Gustav Winckler to be their representative at Eurovision in 1957. Therefore they went to on stage in Frankfurt and performed the sweet song “Skibet Skal Sejle I Nat”. Their performance ended with a 13 second long kiss! People fell for the performance, that is it landed 3rd out of ten acts.
In 1959 Wilke was once again chosen to go on Denmark’s behalf. That is why she went on stage in Cannes, this time solo, and sang “Uh-Jeg Ville Ønske Jeg Var Dig’’. She did well this year and finished fifth.
Lithuania first took part in Eurovision in 1994, which was held in Dublin. Ovidijus got the honor of being their first representative, with the lullaby “Lopšinė mylimai”. You can say the song did the trick, as a lullaby, because it sadly did not get any points.
Christine Guldbrandsen, 33
Norway chose Christine as the winner of Grand Melody Prix in 2006. Therefore she got to go to Athens and perform the Nordic folk song “Alvedansen”. Since Norway was in top 11 last year, her song was performed directly at the final. Where the song ended in 14th place.
We all here at escXtra would like to wish them all a wonderful happy birthday!
