Having won this year’s Icelandic national selection, the London Eurovision Party 2018 is now delighted to announce that Ari Ólafsson will be performing at Café de Paris on Thursday, 5th April.
Our Choice to Lisbon!
Iceland used their usual selection format this year. Söngvakeppnin whittled down its choices over two semifinals and then further still, narrowing the field to a superfinal of their best two candidates. In a tough battle vs Dagur Sigurðsson, Ari Ólafsson came out on top with his entry “Our Choice”, performed in English, winning with 53% of the vote!
Earlier in the competition, the song was performed in Icelandic – “Heim” – alongside all the other competitors. It was then in the final that Ari Ólafsson decided to switch his entry into English for consideration by the Icelandic audience as their Eurovision entry.
