Yesterday on 27th of March there were three birthday ladies that got sent greetings. Today are also three people that celebrate their birthday. The oldest is the most experienced, as she has participated four times at Eurovision. Bettan, Vaidas Baumila and Margus Tohver were born on this day.
Elisabeth Andreassen (Bettan), 60
Like mentioned above, Bettan took part at Eurovision four times. The first time she sang a duet with Kikki Danielsson as Chips in 1982 on behalf of Sweden. Therefore they sang “Dag efter Dag” in Harrogate, UK, where they landed on 8th place.
In 1985, Norway selected the duet Bobbysocks, that is Elisabeth and Hanne Krogh. They sang the song “La det swinge” in Gothenburg, Sweden. That song, as we know, won the show!
Norway selected Bettan once again in 1994, then as a part of a duet with Jan Verner Danielsen. They went on stage in Dublin and performed the song “Duett“. The song got 114 points and gave the duet the 6th place.
The last time she took part at Eurovision was in 1996. This time doing a solo in Oslo on Norway’s behalf. The song “I evighet” did great and scored 114 points. This was enough to earn the second place. She among few people that have both gotten 1st and 2nd place at Eurovision.
Margus Tohver, 47
Margus Tohver was part of the indie band Ruffus. The band took part at the Estonian pre-selection for Eurovision in 2003 for the joke of it. However they ended up winning the show and thus going to Riga. There they performed the song “Eighties coming back”. The song got 24 points, and placed 21st out of 26 countries.
Vaidas Baumila, 31
Lithuania selected the duet Monika Linkytė and Vaidas Baumila to be their representative at Eurovision in 2015. Therefore they went on stage in Vienna and sang “This Time”. The song advanced to the final, where the song got 30 points and placed 18th in the final.
