Yesterday on 28th of March three Eurovision singers had a birthday. Including one winner. Today, however, are four people that celebrate their birthday. The birthday boy has taken part at Eurovision two times. And one of the birthday ladies won the OAGE Second Chance awards. Fernando Tordo, Hera Björk, Kasey Smith, Dorte Andersen are born on this day.
Fernando Tordo, 70
After few attempts at the national selection in Portugal, Fernando won the contest in 1973. That is why he got to perform Luxembourg, with his song “Tourada”. The song got 80 point, therefore he placed 10th out of 17 acts.
Portugal chose the group Os Amigos, Tordo was a part of group. They sang the song “Portugal no coração“, which ended in 14th place.
Dorte Andersen, 70
Dorte and Martin Loft, won Dansk Grand Prix in 1996, and therefore had the chance to go Eurovision that year. However the song did not advance from the pre-qualifying round.
Hera Björk, 46
Iceland selected Hera to be there representative at Eurovision in 2010. Therefore she sang her song “Je Ne Sais Quoi” ath the stage in Oslo, Norway. She made it to the final where she got 41 points, that is 19th place.
But she as had quite the experience, since she three times been in the backing vocalist for Iceland. As well as being second at Dansk Grand Prix 2009 with the song “Someday“. Which won the OAGE Second Chance awards.
Kasey Smith, 28
Ireland picked Kasey and the group Can-Linn to go on their behalf to Copenhagen, Denmark. They sang the song “Heartbeat” in the second semi final. Sadly for them the song did not qualify to the final.
