Today we have reviews of the Hungarian entry, ‘Viszlát Nyár’ by AWS, from Riccardo, Hlynur, Rigmo, Wiv, Yassia and Vincent. Let’s get started!

The Reviews

Riccardo

Give me oxygen please, I’m outta breath! Considering my music taste, I really should be hating this, but I most certainly don’t! I mean that last minute is golden. It does give me some anxiety for the well-being of the singer at times, but I am so looking forward to seeing this staged in Lisbon, even if it won’t be anywhere near one of my favorites.

Hlynur

This one of my favourite this year, don’t usually go for metal. But this time I do, and I find myself trying to sing to it. And I really like that they are performing in their own language.

Rigmo

HOLY BALLS OF FIRE! A POT OF COFFEE, 12 CANS OF RED BULL AND SUUS BLASTING FROM MY ALARM CLOCK COULD NOT WAKE ME UP THIS GOOD. THIS IS AN ADRENALINE SHOT RIGHT TO THE THE EYEBALL.  AUDIENCE MEMBERS USED TO FESTIVAL DA CANCAO SLEEPING PILLS WILL NOT BE READY FOR THIS. EVERY PACEMAKER IN THE ARENA WILL EXPLODE AND LEAVE TRAILS OF SMOKE IN THE AIR SHAPED LIKE DEVIL HORNS. IT JUST KEEPS AMPING UP AND UP AND UP AND THERE’S NO END IN SIGHT. I CAN’T GET OVER THE THE ENERGY, THE SHOWMANSHIP, THE KEY CHANGE, IT ALL LEAVES ME UNABLE.TO.STOP.WRITING.IN.ALL.CAPS!!!!!!!!

Wiv

This is another song I really liked a lot when I listened to it the first time. Now however, I have decided I need to stop listening to it, as I like it less and less every time… And I don’t understand why as this is very much my kind of music.

Yassia

Too heavy and too loud for my ears;( It will definitely stand out, as it’s very different from the rest of the songs this year. My prediction is that it won’t stand out in a positive way though. The only thing that I like about this song is that it’s in Hungarian.

Vincent

Summer’s gone, but winter ain’t coming, at least not from Hungary. This is raging and boiling, and quite a good “democratization” of metal, since fans and non-fans can appreciate it. It even has a key change! As far as lyrics are concerned, this dialogue between verses and chorus is beautifully authentic. Musically, though… I love the chorus, I love the background, but I’m not a big fan of the long scream or the verses’s “melody”. Still a strong entry.
