Germany confirms participation for 2019 as NDR starts national selection process

The grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 was just one week ago, but the German broadcaster, NDR, already starts thinking about the national selection for the upcoming contest in 2019. After achieving the best result since Lena’s victory in 2010, Germany is motivated to top this year’s result in the upcoming year.

Who will sing for Germany?

Since this morning, singers and bands can apply to be part of the national selection to be the German representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Israel. Up to 6 people can apply together with a cover song or an original song. Another rule is, that everybody has to be at least 18 years old. The formula to apply can be found HERE.
In the past years, the German national selection changed every year. After this year’s result, it seems, that the NDR will stick to the format from this year. Further information about the end of the applying process and the date for the national final will be announced at a later date.

Michael brought home the best result for Germany in almost a decade. Finishing 4th in the jury voting and 6th in the televoting made Germany finishing in 4th place overall in the grand final of Lisbon.
