Turin 2022🇮🇹 Italy

🇮🇹 Alessandro Cattelan ‘honoured’ by calls for him to host Eurovision 2022

He hosted the series of X Factor Italy that MÃ¥neskin won back in 2017

While it’s still early days since their win, speculation is rife around Italy’s hosting of Eurovision 2022. While Turin is currently the frontrunner for the host city, the hosting is another important matter. One of the main names touted is Alessandro Cattelan, who hosted X Factor Italy for nine years, included the edition that Måneskin competed in back in 2017.

In an interview with La Repubblica (paywall), Alessandro responded to the calls for him to host Eurovision 2022. He has previously been touted as a potential host for Sanremo, so he is certainly on Rai’s radar, having left Sky after a decade to join the broadcaster last year.

This, and the fact that he is apparently on of the stronger English speakers in Rai’s talent pool, have lead to speculation about whether he will be on the list of potential hosts. In the interview, he remained vague, but appeared flattered when it was mentioned that there were calls for him to host.

After Måneskin’s victory, everyone on social media was nominating you to host Eurovision in 2022.

That was an honour. It also made me say that I’ve worked well with Måneskin.

While far from a confirmation, he is definitely a contender to watch.
