Israeli broadcaster KAN meets with the EBU for next year’s Eurovision

The EBU has publicised an update to the developments surrounding the 2019 contest, with a tweet confirming they have met with Israeli broadcaster KAN. This occurred at a meeting of Portuguese and Israeli teams at the EBU headquarters in Geneva. Including a handover from the Portuguese broadcaster RTP to the Israeli broadcaster, a debrief of the 2018 contest yesterday transitioning to the meeting today marks a positive step in the developments towards Israel 2019. Key milestones have been agreed between the EBU and the Israeli broadcaster and it appears as if next year’s Eurovision is well on track.

The EBU Reference Group, members of the Portuguese broadcaster RTP and Israeli broadcaster KAN have come together in Geneva to formally kick off the preparations for the contest to be held in Israel. A decision on which city will host the contest has yet to be announced. However, the EBU’s tweet does confirm that it will be announced in September, after a bidding process. KAN has reportedly received a large amount of information on hosting the contest from the EBU. RTP also gave their tips on hosting the contest through the handover. The EBU is pulling out all of the stops in order to ensure Israel hosts the contest smoothly.

Also prominent in these discussions is the provisional logo for next year. It is missing the name of the unannounced host city, and it will see changes as more is announced about the contest. Nevertheless, its appearance strengthens the case that Israel will indeed host next year’s contest.
