Rehearsal review

Stage presentation

Amanda Georgiadi Tenfjord begins sitting on a chair. As the first verse progresses, we discover she is surrounded by upturned chairs ‘sinking’ into the stage. Deep blue screens both behind and below her make it seem as though she is walking on water. It is quite haunting in terms of the staging and delivery. The final chorus builds into a beautiful white lighting display from the kinetic sun, and blue lights out from the edge of the stage. Camera work for this delicately keeps the focus on Amanda but shows the depth of detailing on the stage.

Costumes and styling

Amanda is dressed in a white dress, fitted at the waist, but free-flowing enough to allow for easy walking. The sleeves are slightly puffed, giving extra style to the stage outfit. She also has a tough of white eyeliner on her eyelid which is noticeable on the close-ups of her face.

Vocal quality

There are no worries about the security of Amanda’s vocal, even with the big note towards the end. Each run-through of “Die Together” gives us more and more certainty that this vocal performance – especially the acapella start – could impress the professional juries immensely.

Overall impression

There’s a lot to like about this performance from Greece. Amanda carries great stage presence, which is important for a song which starts acapella. There are lots of lovely details such as silhouettes of a couple dancing on the video screens during the second chorus, and sweeping shots that show the blue and white lights through the choruses. A really good rehearsal.
