Moldovan broadcaster TRM are yet to comment on whether Natalia has been internally selected as their act for next year’s contest. If so, she would be Moldova’s first internally selected entry since Natalia Barbu in 2007.

Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest

Debuting in 2005, Moldova have qualified for 10 out of 15 finals, and have finished in the semi-final top 3 on three occasions – in 2005, 2017 and 2018. Moldova’s debut entry came was Zdob și Zdub’s “Boonika bate doba” which finished in 6th place with 148 points.

Since then, the country has placed inside the top 10 on three occasions, including in 2017, when they scored their best result – finishing in 3rd place. SunStroke Project’s “Hey Mamma!” scored 374 points which meant Moldova finished inside the top three for the first time.

In 2020, Natalia Gordienko was selected to represent Moldova at the contest, set to be held in Rotterdam, with the song “Prison”. However, the contest was cancelled in March which meant the song did not get to be performed on the Eurovision stage.

Were you a fan of “Prison”? Are you hoping that TRM will confirm the news of Natalia’s internal selection?
